Bonfire in Sand

Our Story

After graduating from college with a Mechanical Engineering degree and serving as pilot in the U.S. Navy, I was too restless to stay planted in one spot. My curiosity and ambition for life drove me to build my first van and travel with my loyal German Shepherd side-kick Roo. I found Vanlife matched perfectly with my desire to get out of my comfort zone and to explore, but most importantly to live minimal… I wanted to create a way to simplify my life in order to spend more time doing the things I love.

During my college days, I spent 2 spring breaks in the Costa Rican rural hills working on an ecologically sustainable farm. Every action and method on the farm were thought out and implemented to work with the environment and to prevent waste. Those sustainable processes I observed, along with the Costa Rican culture, spoke to me greatly as an engineer and a human. The Costa Rican motto “Pura Vida”, meaning "Pure Life" is a philosophy I dwell on daily. The importance of family and friends, spiritualty, and pursuing your passions over everything else is what Pura Vida means to me.

My passions have morphed into helping others achieve their Vanlife dreams, whether that means traveling on weekends, or living full time in less than 90 square feet.

Live the Pure Life!

Pura Vida,
